SERVING THE RECRUITING NEEDS OF THE FOOD MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY
Summary:
Directs and coordinates activities of maintenance, and installation of
machines, tools, and equipment, and in maintenance of buildings, grounds, and
energy systems of industrial plant, or other establishment by performing the
following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Monitor maintenance team for adherence to safety
policies and provide training as required. Continually reviews plant for safety
issues and utilizes resources to resolve those issues. Set the example
with safe work habits.
2. Must possess the ability to apply technical skills
and ingenuity to the correction of equipment problems causing excessive production
downtime and maintenance work This support is in predictive,
preventive and reactive maintenance with the emphasis on being proactive to
maintain the plant’s ability to produce product. Ensure maintainability of
new installations. Identify and correct chronic and costly
equipment problems. Technical advice to maintenance and production. Works
closely with storeroom supervisor to insure adequate parts are on hand to
support maintenance.
3. Maintain and analyze equipment data and history records
to predict maintenance needs. Design and monitor an effective and
economically justified preventive maintenance program. Proper operation
and care of equipment. Comprehensive lubrication program. Inspection,
adjustments, parts, replacements, overhauls, etc., for selected
equipment. Vibration and other predictive analyses.
4. Assist Maintenance Manager, Planner/Scheduler and
Lead Mechanics, in shutdown planning. Analyze machine history report to
determine problem areas and plan solutions. Research parts information
through working knowledge for equipment and process. Work with Vendors,
parts manuals, and contractors to order parts.
5. Review and analyze downtime to develop plans to
reduce downtime. Works closely with Process Leaders to identify root causes and
determine what action needs to be taken to resolve issues. Directs maintenance
mechanics and contractors to fix correctly the first time to reduce downtime.
6. Support the Process Leaders in meeting audit
requirements for Sanitation, GMP’s and Food Security. Provides training
for maintenance teams in these areas and works closely with the hourly
workforce to identify training needs on equipment. Complete performance
appraisals and provide recommendations for improvement for each hourly
employee.
Must maintain the highest standards of ethics and integrity while embodying

Principles." Lead by example in supporting organizational initiatives and
following Basic Principles.
Must maintain the highest standards of data management by creating
consistent, reliable data which will ensure accuracy and in turn, maximize the
use of data and confidence in decision making.
Proactively manage safety by ensuring compliance with all Federal and State
regulations and internal Company policies. Regularly complete behavior
based safety observations. Ensure unsafe conditions are corrected in a
timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees in the Maintenance Department. Carry out
supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and
applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing; participate in the
hiring process, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing
work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing
complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's
degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and one to two years
related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals,
professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental
regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and
procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond
to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general
public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest,
commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and
volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete
variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to
interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or
schedule form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of
Contact Management systems; Database software; Internet software; Inventory software;
Manufacturing software; Order processing systems; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet
software and Word Processing software.
